Q: How do I know if it’s the right time for a cleanse?

 

We recommend cleansing with the seasons, as it is a very natural transition time when our bodies, minds, & spirits generally need more support.

 

Other good indicators that it may be a good time to start a cleanse are if you are:

 

  • Fatigued / sleep issues
  • Brain fog
  • Troubled skin
  • Digestive issues
  • Emotionally down, stuck, blah, mood swings, anger
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Need an overall immune boost

 

Q: Can I eat while cleansing?

 

That is 100% your choice! And if you do, that is perfectly fine. Everyone is at a different place each new day. So if you feel like you want some added foods, go for it! Your body will benefit from adding in all the good that is provided no matter what.

 

I do always recommend to drink water first whenever you feel hungry, as often we are simply dehydrated. We also often fill voids in time, emotions, etc. with eating. I use cleanses to help reset food consumption. It is so easy to overeat larger portions when we aren’t really hungry anymore. This can take several days to adjust to while cleansing. I usually feel like I need to consume more the first few days of a cleanse, but by day 5-7 I am consuming less as I’ve adjusted physically & emotionally. I love this aspect of cleansing, as it always changes my eating patterns for the better on the other side as I transition back into my daily flow.

 

There’s a fine line between challenging yourself to not eat. Follow your intuition and if you feel like you really need to eat something, go for it! Just stay with clean, simple foods, as mentioned in the next Q.

 

Only one out of our three cleanses is designed as a fully liquid cleanse: RELEASE.

 

Both the RENEW & RESTORE cleanses have food as a part of it. And all three have one mylk based (hemp or coconut) elixir that has added fiber, nourishing / adaptogenic herbs, & superfoods.

 

Q: What kinds of food(s) can I add to my cleanse?

 

If you’d like to add food, or are doing the RENEW or RESTORE cleanse, you can feel free to supplement with light snacks such as raw almonds, fresh fruit, raw veggies (carrots, cucumber, etc.), fresh salads, steamed veggies (unless you want to maintain fully raw). This is all about you feeling better, and that doesn’t mean you have to go without or not eat anything.

 

Q: Can I cleanse if I am a high performance athlete, training for a marathon, highly active, etc.?

 

If this is you, we encourage you to consider adding 1-2 juices or a smoothie each day for the liquid cleanse. As you expend more calories through a more active life, your body will require more to maintain a healthy state.

 

Our cleanses are based on the average lifestyle that is not quite as active. Each day of the cleanse comes with 6, 16oz servings. This should be plenty of calories for the average individual who may have a more gentle routine that involves any of the following (or something similar): a gentle workout, moderate yoga practice, gentle hike, etc.

 

Q: Can I drink anything else?

 

We recommend you drink at least half your body weight in water (ounces) each day. This is recommended whether or not you are cleansing. Add fresh citrus (lemon, lime, etc.) or certified pure therapeutic grade citrus essential oils for added benefits.

 

To get your digestive fires flowing in the morning, try starting your day with a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar (1-2 tablespoons) with lemon juice. Feel free to dilute this with water.

 

We always love adding nourishing herbal teas while cleansing to support the body deeper. One of our favorites is a strong, plain nettle tea. You can also try the Nourishing Tea or Medicinal Mushroom recipe from our Healing Tonics cookbook.

 

Another great liquid addition is the Lemon Cleanser recipe from our Healing Tonics cookbook. This is essentially maple lemonade (maple syrup, lemon juice, filtered or spring water) plus a pinch of cayenne. This is a recipe based off the Master Cleanse. Maple Syrup is slam packed with essential minerals + nutrients to support your body, while cayenne & lemon are extremely detoxifying.

 

When cleansing we highly recommend that you cut out caffeine & alcohol so your body can get the most out of this experience. This is best to cut out a few days before your cleanse begins to ease yourself into this. If you feel like you still need a little caffeine, try something gentler on the system such as black tea, green tea, matcha, or yerba maté.

 

Q: Should I expect to experience any side effects while cleansing?

 

While cleansing you may experience discomfort as your body is working through a great deal that we often don’t allow the space to move through. As we release this can bring up headaches, waves of emotions, skin outbreaks, and more. This is completely natural and expected as we are creating the time and space for our bodies to RELEASE and let go; this means that our bodies now have the permission and added support to push things out to the surface in all ways possible. As we fill our body with the love, care, nutrients, hydration, we are able to safely move through this journey to the other side with more clarity, higher health and happiness.

 

Q: Is 1 day enough?

 

Definitely! A 1-day reset is not to be looked at lightly. These pick me ups can offer powerful healing benefits.

 

If you are feeling extra sluggish, fatigued, and / or have deeper issues going on, the longer you are able to dedicate to cleanse, the more benefits you’ll see, generally speaking.

 

Q: How long should I cleanse for?

 

This varies from person to person and will be different throughout different phases of life. While you clear your body, you’ll find that you’ll become even more in tune with your personal needs. Over the years I have never put a specific timeline on a cleanse. I just go for however long my body needs it. Usually I like to do a longer chunk of time like 5-21 days. But there are many times I may not be able to commit to that with my schedule, so I’ll do a 1-day reset or squeeze in a few days if I can. Q: Is it safe to cleanse while pregnant or nursing?

 

It is not recommended to cleanse while pregnant or nursing. That doesn’t mean you aren’t able to “clean” up your diet with healthy habits or add in juices & cleansing foods to supplement your diet. Please consult your medical doctor first.

 

Q: Is it safe to cleanse while on medication?

 

While cleansing you are flushing your system, which may effect your medication. Please consult your medical doctor before cleansing when on medication.

 

Q: Do you deliver?

 

We currently do not offer delivery. We may be able to offer on a case by case basis for an added delivery fee. If you get a group of friends to join you on this journey it could make it much more worthwhile! And if we have enough demand in certain areas, over time we may be able to add this on!

 

All cleanses are to be picked up in store during business hours. It is recommended to pick up your cleanse the day before you start so you wake up ready to go for the day.

 

If you are doing more than 3-day, we will have 2-3 days ready at a time for optimal freshness + nutritional value. The 5-day cleanse has 2 pick-ups.
